Who is Kirsten Adamson, anyway?

Yep, that’s me – sporting Mum’s best bowl haircut and my 80’s glasses that were so cool they even had a little butterfly on the side!
Those of you that have already met me in person and worked with me, know I look a little different now, but aren’t I lucky mum preserved these priceless memories for me? And no, I don’t mind if you go ahead and have a little chuckle.

I often get asked how long I have been doing this, so I thought I would give you all a little more insight into my history. Born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, I’m a farm girl at heart. I grew up mostly barefoot learning about wildlife and nature – the inspiration for my post High School Zoology degree, riding bikes and building treehouses. At around the age of 13, my Dad bought my brother and myself an old second hand Minolta film camera. We dove straight in to learning about how the camera, film and different lenses worked and honed our skills photographing the local wildlife.

Fast forward a few years and I was introduced to the world of digital photography. While navigating life as a young adult in Johannesburg, I enjoyed varying careers as a Chef, an Aupair, a Systems Developer and a Business Analyst. I pursued my love of photography with a sideline business, photographing many beautiful families, babies and children, as well as weddings. Since moving to Australia in 2017, my business has focussed on Families and capturing all the remarkable stages they go through, my specialty lies in Maternity, Newborn and Family/Generational sessions. I have loved meeting and chatting to so many new people and learning from every client that has walked through my door!

I have photographed a multitude of kindies and my husband and I have 2 very busy little boys of our own, so newborn baby whispering, toddler wrangling and general KIDding around are all part of my ever evolving life skills! Thankfully my bowl haircut has gone too.
